From "Steeplejack: Apology. pt.I. In old Philadelphia. pt. II. Paris forty years ago" by James Huneker, mentioned "The Keg" kept by the Gasslein brothers, Joseph and Charles, the sons of old man Gasslein, who had a place fifty years ago further up town on Callowhill or Noble St.
The book also told of the actor, Edwin Booth, brother of John Wilkes Booth, at "The Keg."
In 1878 the Philadelphia City Directory:
Gasslein, John C., conveyancer, 217 S. 3rd, h 1434 Christian
Gasslein, John J., lager, 10 S. Broad, h 1629 Filbert
Gasslein, John J., Jr., bartender, h 1332 Ellsworth

John Charles Gasslein was my great

Hi Mary,
Thanks for verifying that the article referenced the Gasslein line that Jim's great-aunt, Alice White, married into!
