Near the western borders of settlement, or in the neighborhood of Clarksville, Valentine Sevier, brother of John, had a station with several others north of him on Red River. These were only a few of the better known settlers living in the Mero District in 1792; in their world, so small when measured in numbers of settlers, each human being was important.
