On Page 891 of James A. Michener's book, Texas, he writes, "When we left the restaurant we found our evening somewhat dampened by a sign plastered across our windshield: "TEXANS GO HOME, which reminded us that New Mexicans regard the Texans who flood their towns in summer the way Texans regard the visitors from Michigan who invade their state in winter."
As a born and raised Michigander, I resemble that remark; we left Michigan in mid-September and will be in Texas in a few weeks. We have cover, though; we've been official Floridians for 9 years, so although our hearts say Michigan, our license plates say Florida.
